UPDATE: Southern Shore Highway reopens to one lane of traffic after collision involving dump truck

UPDATE: 8:00 PM: The highway is now passable however only one lane at a time. Expect delays and obey all traffic control company directions. There are still workers and heavy equipment present in the area.

A section of Robert E. Howlett Memorial Drive, also known as the Southern Shore Highway, is closed in the area of Bay Bulls Big Pond as officers respond to a collision involving a dump truck.

The RNC says the highway is expected to be closed in both directions for several hours. Drivers are asked to avoid the area. People travelling to and from the Southern Shore are advised to use Witless Bay Line.
