Shelter-in-place order in Happy Valley-Goose Bay lifted, five people taken into custody
A shelter-in-place order for residents in Happy Valley–Goose Bay was lifted last night. RCMP took five individuals into custody, and a firearm was safely recovered by police.
Residents may have noticed an increased police presence in the area as the criminal investigation continued.
Earlier in the evening, Happy Valley–Goose Bay RCMP had asked residents in the area of Mesher Street to shelter in place while officers responded to a report of an individual with a firearm.
The individual was described as approximately 5’5” tall, with a slim build, wearing a hoodie with the hood up, and carrying a shotgun with a strap.
Residents in the areas of Mesher Street and Lethbridge Street were asked to remain inside until further notice. During the incident, residents were advised not to approach the individual and to call 9-1-1 immediately if the individual was spotted.
