RNC arrest Corner Brook man for dangerous driving
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) arrested a man in Corner Brook for numerous driving offences.
Just after 2 p.m. Friday (Aug. 21), Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a speeding vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway in the Corner Brook region.
Officers located the vehicle that was driving 190 km/hr, and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver failed to stop, drove through a red light, and abandoned the vehicle on a gravel roadway in the area of Lewin Parkway and Pratt Street, before fleeing on foot. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to locate and arrest 37-year-old Scott King.
King was charged with flight from police and dangerous operation. His vehicle was seized and he was held to appear in court.
King was wanted on outstanding warrants; one for using a counterfeit bill to pay for a transaction at a Corner Brook convenience store on June 17, and one stemming from an incident on June 28 where he fled from police in a vehicle. He was charged with an additional count of flight from police, possessing counterfeit money, as well as breaches of a release order and probation for those matters.
