Regiment Eliminate Eagles in Game Six and Move on to Second Round of Playoffs
The Newfoundland Regiment are moving on to the second round of the QMJHL playoffs after eliminating the Cape Breton Eagles in game six of their first-round series. The Regiment won handily over the Eagles Sunday afternoon in front of home fans at the Mary Brown’s Centre. It was a 7-3 win for the Regiment, and the team was not going to let another chance to end the series slip away. In game 5 on the road, Newfoundland was up 4-1 after the second period, but Cape Breton tied it up in the third period to send it to overtime, where they scored to extend the series. Sunday afternoon, the series returned to St. John’s, and the Regiment put on a dominant performance to put the series to bed. The Regiment now wait to find out who their second-round opponent will be.
