Regiment beat Eagles 4-1 for seventh straight win

News, Sports

The Newfoundland Regiment have won seven straight games thanks to another 4-1 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles on Saturday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre.

Newfoundland again started strong but had to show a little more patience than the night before.

The breakthrough came with 75 seconds left in the first period when Louis-Francois Belanger scored to put the Regiment up 1-0 heading into the intermission.

Justin Larose and Dawson Sharkey kept the pressure up in the second period as their goals gave the Regiment a 3-0 lead heading into the third.

Belanger scored his second goal of the night five minutes into the third period before Jacob Hartlin scored one back for Cape Breton six minutes later. The Regiment held on from there for a 4-1 win.

Louis-Antoine Denault was again strong in the Newfoundland net, turning away 24 of the 25 shots he faced.

The Regiment head to Quebec next for their final road trip of the regular season, starting Saturday night against the Victoriaville Tigres.
