RCMP Traffic Services West tickets ATV driver for Off-Road Vehicles Act violation
The RCMP is reminding all off-road vehicle operators to drive safe and follow the rules after a 59-year-old Piccadilly man was ticketed this weekend for driving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) without a helmet.
Around 1:35 p.m. on June 14, an RCMP Traffic Services West officer on patrol observed a man operating an ATV on Main Road in Piccadilly. He was not wearing a helmet, so police conducted a traffic stop and he was issued a ticket under the Off-Road Vehicles Act.
As warmer weather arrives in province, RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador is reminding operators of dirt bikes, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and all other off-road vehicles to drive safety and obey the province’s Off-Road Vehicles and Highway Traffic Acts.
All occupants of off-road vehicles are required to wear helmets — every time, every ride. Seat belts are also required when they’re available in the vehicle.
