RCMP Traffic Services East seizes vehicle from prohibited driver

Justice, News

A 44-year-old man was taken into custody by RCMP Traffic Services East Wednesday evening when a traffic stop revealed that he was prohibited from driving Canada-wide under the Criminal Code.

On July 1 around 8:15 p.m., an officer patrolling on Central Street in Bay Roberts observed a vehicle traveling with an illegible licence plate attached.

Police stopped the vehicle and learned that the driver — a 44-year-old Marysvale man — was the subject of a two-year Canada-wide driving prohibition, ordered by the provincial courts in July 2024. He was arrested and later released to appear in provincial court at a future date on one new charge of driving while prohibited.

The vehicle he was driving was seized by police and impounded.
