RCMP arrests impaired driver operating without a licence
St. Anthony RCMP arrested a 55-year-old man for impaired operation after a traffic stop in Saint Lunaire-Griquet on June 2. On Monday, a police officer on patrol in Saint Lunaire-Griquet stopped a driver suspected of operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s licence. During the traffic stop, the driver showed signs of alcohol impairment, and a roadside breath test was administered.
The driver failed the roadside test and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. A search of the vehicle also found an open container of alcohol. The driver was transported to the detachment, where he provided breath samples over the legal limit.
The man’s vehicle was seized, and the driver was fined for operating without a valid license. He was released to appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired operation and impaired operation over 80 mgs%.
