Justice, News

A Conception Bay South man was charged with impaired operation after attempting to get help for running out of gas on the side of the road Saturday night. On Aug. 15, just after 7:30 p.m., police was dispatched to a report of two individuals who had run out of gas on Route 13, Witless Bay Line. Multiple reports were received indicating the driver was suspected to be impaired.

Police located the vehicle and identified its driver as a 44-year-old man. He showed signs of impairment, failed a roadside screening and was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver was brought to the Holyrood RCMP detachment where he provided additional samples over the legal limit. He was released to appear in court in October 2026 on charges of impaired operation and impaired operation over 80 mg%.

In addition, the man’s vehicle was seized and impounded, and his driver’s licence was suspended.
