News

The province-wide fire ban issued on July 8 will end at midnight tonight. Outdoor fires will be permitted as of 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, July 18.

The Provincial Government reminds residents that it is still forest fire season in the province. Anyone planning to have an open outdoor fire should check the Fire Hazard Map beforehand.

All outdoor fires, including campfires, are banned in areas where the Fire Weather Index is very high or extreme.

Permits to burn brush and other materials are suspended, and fireworks and sky lanterns are banned in areas of the province where the Fire Weather Index is high, very high or extreme.

Information on the Fire Weather Index, regulations, wildfire prevention, fire bans, and active wildfires is available at gov.nl.ca/fal/wildfiremanagement/.

The Provincial Government extends its appreciation to all residents of Newfoundland and Labrador for their cooperation in observing the fire ban.

To report a wildfire, call: 1-866-709-FIRE (3473).
