It’s a big weekend as NTV plays host to the 42nd annual Children’s Miracle Network Janeway Telethon.

The event raises money to help the Janeway provide equipment and care for children across the province.

For over four decades, the Janeway Children’s Miracle Network Telethon has been a cherished tradition in Newfoundland and Labrador, bringing communities together in support of the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre, the province’s only pediatric hospital.

This special event shares heartwarming and honest stories of Janeway kids and their families, highlighting the incredible impact of donor support. It also showcases the generosity of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, whose kindness makes life-saving and life-changing care possible. With inspiring stories, heartfelt giving, and musical performances, the Telethon is a true celebration of support, resilience, and community spirit.

The telethon airs on Saturday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. on NTV.

About the Janeway

The Janeway Children’s Health & Rehabilitation Centre provides excellence in specialized health care in a compassionate, supportive environment, to our province’s sick and injured children. Each child cared for at the Janeway inspires us with their courage and determination to be well. It is this determination that drives our staff to achieve the best possible outcomes for these children, constantly exploring and researching new treatments and health care regimens, maximizing every available resource.

The 800 nurses, technicians, therapists, and support staff and 85 doctors, within the Janeway Children’s and Women’s Health Program, provide primary, secondary and tertiary care services, on both an inpatient and ambulatory basis, for children from infancy to 18 years of age.  As well, a full range of maternal services are provided in obstetrics and gynecology.

The Mental Health and Addictions Program operates services located in the Janeway Hospital as well as the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Service.

The Janeway, in affiliation with Memorial University, serves as a primary clinical resource for pediatric and obstetric teaching and research. Through a broad range of health professions in medicine, nursing and related health services, the hospital and university work together – training the health care providers of tomorrow.

Why The Janeway Needs You

The Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre is the province’s only pediatric hospital, serving all our children. At the Janeway Foundation, we work to ensure our children’s hospital has the financial support it needs to offer our kids the best care. We purchase state of the art equipment, improve infrastructure, invest in research and technology and provide grants for continuing education for staff each year, thanks to the generous donations and fundraising efforts from the community.

The Janeway treats all children and youth (up to 18) in Newfoundland and Labrador and provides exceptional care during each of the over 104,000 visits that children and their families make to our hospital each year.

Our health is fundamental to our lives, and no one is more important to us than our children. Because of this, the Janeway is seen as a cornerstone of our community.

According to the 2022 Health Accord Report, across the ten Canadian provinces, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have worse health outcomes with (i) a higher rate of deaths from heart disease, cancer, and stroke, (ii) the lowest life expectancy of all the provinces, (iii) the highest level of complex health needs among children, and (iv) the highest proportion of older people with three or more chronic illnesses. We need to think differently about how we approach healthcare, and it needs to start in childhood. If we make our children healthier, if we correct their acute and chronic health concerns more effectively in childhood, we will have a healthier population.

We are working hard to drive change in the care we can provide to our children, but it takes visionary community support to make this happen.

There are significant strains on the healthcare system, services, operations, and facilities. It is new, innovative ideas, changes to the way things have always been done, and better use of technology that will resolve our future challenges.

Your support will make our future healthier.

Your Donations – Your Impact

Over the last 40 years generous donors like you have made sure we have the latest cutting-edge technology here in the province, offered incredible educational opportunities to staff, driven pediatric research, and created specialized health programs. Donations have improved diagnostics, ensured less invasive procedures and most significantly, enhanced the care provided to children in Newfoundland and Labrador.
