News

The Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands is currently monitoring two active fires in Labrador West.

The fire at Emerillon Lake South is 8 hectares and classified as Under Control. Aircraft and ground crew are on site but no further spread is expected.

The fire at Oreway is currently estimated at 470 hectares and classified as Out of Control.

The fire is in a remote area near large waterbodies and previously burned land. Crews continue to monitor the fire.

People in the Wabush-Labrador City area may see smoke, but the fire is more than 70 km away and is not considered to be a threat to people or property.
