Port Saunders RCMP charges dirt bike operator with dangerous operation, flight from police

A 29-year-old man was arrested by Port Saunders RCMP on Wednesday for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.

On June 10, around 1:30 p.m., police received a complaint about a motorbike travelling at a high rate of speed and performing stunts on Route 430 near the Big East River. Police conducted a patrol of the area and located the described bike nearby in the parking lot of a business.

When police approached and attempted to speak with the driver, he fled from police in the opposite direction. In the interest of public safety, police did not pursue the vehicle and began patrols of in the Hawkes Bay and Port Saunders area.

Officers identified the suspect, a 29-year-old man, and located the vehicle. The driver attended the Port Saunders detachment later that afternoon, and was arrested on charges of dangerous operation and flight from police.

He was released with conditions and will appear in court in September 2026.

The investigation is continuing.
