Police respond to two separate thefts in capital city on Monday
It was a busy day for the RNC on Monday (June 22). Officers were called to a business in the west end of St. John’s for a report of a theft in progress around 2:30 p.m., as police arrived on scene the suspect was exiting the business.
Officers attempted to arrest the suspect but he fled on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, police apprehended the suspect. The 42-year-old man was charged with theft, resisting arrest, and failure to comply with a court and probation order.
Then around 8:30 p.m., RNC officers observed a female at a business who they had been attempting to locate in relation to a previous theft, and placed her under arrest. The 27-year-old woman was charged with theft, and breach of a court order.
Both suspects were released to appear in court at later dates.
