Police investigate after fatal house fire in east end of St. John’s

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating a fatal residential fire in St. John’s.

On Saturday (Feb. 10), shortly after 4:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to a residential fire at a property on Newfoundland Drive, in the area of Middleton Street. The St. John’s Regional Fire Department was at the scene and had located a female inside the home. She was transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The female succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced deceased at hospital today (Feb 13). 

The RNC expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The RNC will work with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

Investigators are seeking any video footage from the area of the fire between 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
