Police impound vehicle of impaired driver

Justice, News

Police suspended the licence of a 53-year-old man and seized his vehicle during a traffic stop in Stephenville Tuesday evening.

Around 6:45 on Feb. 24, an officer patrolling Main Street in Stephenville stopped a vehicle being driven in an aggressive manner. During the stop, the driver – a 53-year-old Kippens man – showed signs of impairment by alcohol. A roadside test was administered, and the driver was found to be above the provincial limit but below the criminal threshold for impaired operation.

His driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle seized and impounded. The man was also issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for following too closely.
