Placentia RCMP arrests 74-year-old impaired driver
Placentia RCMP arrested a 74-year-old impaired driver near Dunville early Saturday morning.
Just after 2:30 a.m. on March 7, police observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Route 100, just south of the Long Harbour turnoff. A traffic stop was initiated, and signs of impairment were observed. Open alcohol was located inside the vehicle.
The driver was arrested and returned to the Whitbourne RCMP detachment where breath samples confirmed his impairment. He was released from police custody the following day and will appear in court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a vehicle while over 80mg%.
