NL Gulf Ferry Coalition meets with federal government in Ottawa
The NL Gulf Ferry Coalition, a group of industry leaders advocating for the growth of Newfoundland and Labrador’s economy and improved transportation connectivity, recently travelled to Ottawa to push for more reliable and sustainable ferry capacity within Marine Atlantic’s ferry system.
During the visit, coalition members met with representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, Transport Canada, and Members of Parliament from Newfoundland and Labrador. These discussions provided federal officials with a clearer understanding of the challenges facing ferry services, while also highlighting the critical role they play in supporting local communities and regional industry.
Coalition representatives described the meetings as productive and encouraging, noting that there is growing awareness at the federal level of the importance of dependable ferry infrastructure. The group says it will continue working collaboratively with all levels of government to advance solutions on this issue.
