More break and enters in the Conception Bay North area causing concern

News

We first brought you the story out of Conception Bay North in January. Residents there said they were living in fear following a string of crime, specifically residential break and enters. In a recent interview, the RCMP said they are very concerned about this, and public safety is their priority.

RCMP confirmed to NTV News that there was another recent break-in on Thursday, and one person is in custody. While specifics can’t be confirmed, the RCMP says break and enters in the area are actively under investigation.

With an uptick in crime in the area, the RCMP is offering tips for residents to try and avoid becoming a victim. Police say motion sensor lights, cameras around your property, and engaging in neighbourhood conversations, is always good practice. RCMP also stated that they have been receiving an increase in reports of suspicious activity in the area, and encourage residents to continue reporting anything they may deem suspicious to police.

The RCMP will be meeting with Justice and Public Safety Critic, Pam Parsons, who is also the MHA for Harbour Grave – Port De Grave, this week. NTV’s Marykate O’Neill will have more tonight on the Sunday Evening Newshour.
