Man charged with impaired driving following three-vehicle crash late Friday night
A man is facing impaired driving charges following a three-vehicle crash in Portugal Cove-St. Philips on Friday night.
Shortly before 10:00 p.m. emergency crews responded to a collision involving three vehicles on Portugal Cove Road. Responding officers had reason to believe one of the drivers involved was impaired by alcohol. As a result, the individual was arrested and taken to police headquarters to undergo breath testing. The driver provided breath samples which indicated he was operating his vehicle at a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit.
The 30 year old man was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Impaired Operation – Over 80 mg. His vehicle was impounded, drivers license was suspended, and he was released to appear in court at a later date.
