Lauren Rowe named NSL player of the month

News, Sports

One of Newfoundland and Labrador’s brightest soccer stars is making a name for herself on the national stage. Earlier this week, Mark Dwyer featured Conception Bay South’s Lauren Rowe in his weekly ‘On the Mark’ segment.

Since then, the 22-year-old striker has added another major milestone to her growing list of accomplishments, earning the Northern Super League’s player of the month honours for June.

Rowe played a starring role for AFC Toronto in June, scoring three goals and helping drive her club’s success.

After starring on local pitches, she earned a scholarship to play for the University of Cape Breton Capers, where she continued to elevate her game. Now a professional, the 22-year-old is proving she belongs among the country’s top players, and her rise is giving soccer fans in this province another hometown talent to cheer for.
