Kilbride house fire displaces residents, causes significant damage
A fire in Kilbride on Tuesday evening caused significant damage to a home and has displaced its residents.
Shortly after 6:15 p.m. emergency crews were called to the home on Valleyview Road, and upon arrival they found the side of a home engulfed in flames. Mike Hall, Platoon Chief with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), stated that the residents of the home reported hearing a loud bang outside, and in mere moments the side of the home was ablaze.
By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had made it into the eaves and attic space of the home, causing extensive fire damage. Crews pulled down ceilings inside the house to access the blaze.
While everyone inside the home escaped unharmed, its residents have been displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Less than twelve hours later, crews with SJRFD would respond to another house fire, as a fire on Fort Amherst Road would send two people to hospital.
