News

Clarenville RCMP arrested a 54‑year‑old man on Saturday night following reports of an impaired driver in Hickman’s Harbour.

Shortly before 9:00 p.m. on January 17, 2026, Clarenville RCMP responded to a report of an impaired driver in the community. Officers conducted an investigation, identified a male suspect and located him inside a residence a short time later. He was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and provided with a breath demand.

The driver was transported to the Clarenville RCMP detachment, where breath testing confirmed his impairment. His driver’s licence was suspended, and he was released the following day. He is scheduled to appear in court in April to face charges of impaired driving, and impaired operation of a motor vehicle while over 80 mg% of alcohol.
