Second suspect in Mobile armed robbery found and arrested
Holyrood RCMP and the East District General Investigation Section (GIS) have arrested a second suspect in relation to an armed robbery in Mobile Monday evening. Twenty-eight-year-old Tristan Fowler will appear in provincial court today on eight charges including armed robbery and flight from police.
Around 7:15 p.m. on July 13, Ferryland RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store on the Southern Shore Highway in Mobile. Two unknown, masked suspects entered the store, pointed a firearm at staff and left with a small quantity of money. Police quickly located the suspects’ vehicle, and pursued it to Conception Bay South, where it was found abandoned on a trail.
On Wednesday, July 15 around 7:30 p.m., RCMP East District GIS executed a search warrant at the home of a second suspect with the assistance of Holyrood RCMP, Traffic Services East and the RCMP Emergency Response Team. Tristan Fowler, 28, was taken into custody without incident.
RCMP Police Dog Services also located a firearm after a search on Witless Bay Line.
Fowler will appear in court today (Thursday). He is charged with:
· Armed robbery
· Disguise with intent
· Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
· Dangerous operation of a conveyance
· Flight from police
· Possession of a firearm while prohibited
· Obstruction of a Peace Officer,
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The other suspect in the robbery — 36-year-old Darryl McDonald — was located with the assistance of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and taken into custody on Monday evening. He appeared in provincial court on Tuesday and remains in custody at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, with additional charges possible.
