Harbour Breton RCMP arrests man for impaired operation, firearms offences

Police arrested a 30-year-old man for impaired driving and firearms-related offences after a traffic stop over the weekend.

On March 7, just after 1:30 a.m., officers were approached by a vehicle in the community of Belleoram. The driver of the vehicle exhibited clear signs of impairment and was placed under arrest.

The vehicle was subsequently searched and five unsecured firearms and various ammunition were located. The driver did not have a license for the firearms and faces additional charges as a result.

The man was arrested and returned to the Detachment in Grand Falls-Windsor. His license was suspended and vehicle was seized and impounded.

He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on May 5 to answer to Criminal Code charges of:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired

The investigation continues.
