UPDATE: Evacuation order lifted after restaurant fire in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s
The emergency evacuation order has been lifted for residents of several streets after today’s fire in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s
Roads are now open and residents are now permitted to return to their properties.
Some residents had been asked to evacuate their homes, as firefighters battled a structure fire at Landings Restaurant in Portugal Cove-St. Phillip’s this morning.
The Recreation Centre will be open and available for residents who require a place to go during the evacuation.
Residents should also note the following service impacts and safety measures:
-Garbage collection in the affected area will not take place today.
-Temporary water disruptions may occur as crews use the water system for fire suppression efforts.
-The road in the area is closed and restricted to local traffic only.
-Residents and motorists are asked to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to work safely.
