FFAW continues talks with government; “awaiting written confirmation of expectations”
There will not be a fishery protest today, according to the the FFAW, who posted to social media last night saying their meeting with Premier Tony Wakeham and the province’s fisheries minister went well.
Late last week the arbitrator upheld the Association of Seafood Producers’ 2025 Crab Rebate Calculation, rejecting the union’s grievance. The FFAW is calling on the province to stand up for harvesters and to address the lack of competition and pricing system failure.
The union has told members to be ready for protests if nothing changes after their meeting with government. In their social media post, the FFAW says they “awaiting written confirmation of expectations going forward.”
