Dr. Falah Maroun passes away at age 90
Many in the medical community in this province are mourning the loss of Dr. Falah Maroun, a skilled physician and surgeon. Dr. Maroun was born in Lebanon in 1935, and worked in Newfoundland and Labrador for the majority of his lengthy career.
An Order of Newfoundland and Labrador recipient, Dr. Maroun was the only neurosurgeon in the province for a number of years. Former premier Andrew Furey took to social media, saying many residents across the province are alive today because of Dr. Maroun’s hands, judgement and calm presence when it mattered most.
Premier Tony Wakeham also posted a tribute on Facebook, saying he was a true pioneer of medicine whose legacy will be felt for generations.
Dr. Falah Maroun was 90 years old.
