Delta flight carrying nearly 300 passengers departs YYT after 12-hour delay due to engine issue
The Delta flight carrying close to 300 passengers took off from St. John’s International Airport around 10 a.m. Monday, after being stranded for nearly 12 hours, following an emergency landing.
The Delta Air Lines flight, which was en route from New York’s JFK Airport to Rome, made an unexpected diversion to St. John’s late Sunday night because of an engine issue.
The emergency landing happened shortly before 11 p.m., prompting a response from emergency crews, including St. John’s Regional Firefighters and RNC officers.
Delta sent a replacement plane to St. John’s to pick up those on board. It arrived early Monday morning, allowing the stranded passengers to continue their journey to Rome.
