Dean Penney murder trial resumes today
Dean penney’s first-degree murder trial will resume at Supreme Court in Corner Brook today after several delays.
Since beginning April 1, several people have taken the stand to testify. The Crown’s position is that Dean Penney killed his estranged wife Jennifer Hillier-Penney, and planned for her to be home the night of her disappearance.
Defence lawyers Mark Gruchy and Jeff Brace, however, told the jury they plan to prove that someone else killed Jennifer.
The hearings have been off to a challenging start with staffing and technical issues over the last couple weeks. Dean Penney is scheduled to take the stand in his defence.
The trial is scheduled to take place over the next few weeks,
