Canadian Armed Forces member who died in Latvia helped battle wildfires in N.L.
Sebastian Halmagean, the Canadian Armed Forces member who died in Latvia Thursday, helped battle wildfires in Newfoundland and Labrador this past summer.
His father, Kru Alin posted online that his son Sebastian was immensely proud to serve his county, noting that he helped to extinguish fires in this province. His father said his son was his best friend, and he will miss their discussions about war history and combat.
Opposition leader John Hogan expressed his condolences on Facebook, while extending his gratitude for Halmagean’s service to this province.
“On behalf of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and CAF colleagues, and our profound gratitude for his service to this Province in our time of need.”
