Canada earns historic first draw at FIFA World Cup
Canada earned its first ever draw at the FIFA World Cup with a 1-1 result against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday.
Playing before a home crowd in Toronto for the first time ever at a men’s World Cup, Canada fell behind 1-0 in the first half. But Cyle Larin scored the equalizer in the 78th minute of the second half to give Canada its first ever point in the group stage standings.
It’s the first game Canada has not lost at the World Cup. Previous Canadian teams went 0-3 at each of the other two World Cups for which Canada qualified in 1986 and 2022.
Canada’s next match is against Qatar in Vancouver on Thursday, June 18.
