Burin Peninsula RCMP responds to collision, driver charged with impaired refusal
Burin Peninsula RCMP arrested a 28-year-old man Tuesday morning, after he was involved in a motor vehicle collision and refused to provide police with a breath sample during their investigation.
On May 5, shortly after 6:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Route 220 in Black Brook. Emergency medical services personnel and the Marystown Fire Department were on scene when officers arrived.
The operator of the vehicle, a 28-year-old Marystown man, was uninjured in the crash. He showed signs of impairment and police provided a demand for a breath sample, which he refused.
He was arrested and charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand and is expected to appear in provincial court at a later date.
His driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.
