Bonavista RCMP arrests pair after recovering stolen vehicle
Police in Bonavista arrested 27-year-old Nathan Hancott and 22-year-old Shane Hynes, both of Grand Falls-Windsor, in relation to a vehicle theft last month.
On Feb. 5, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in Grand Falls-Windsor. Bonavista RCMP spotted the car later that evening and approached the vehicle to speak with the occupants, however, the driver fled from the officers. Video surveillance confirmed that the occupants of the car included 27-year-old Nathan Hancott, who was the subject of an active Canada-wide warrant at the time, and 22-year-old Shane Hynes.
The following day, February 6, police recovered the stolen vehicle outside a retail store in Bonavista. Both men were located at a residence in Catalina on February 9, 2026 and arrested without incident.
Hynes has been charged with possession of stolen property, four counts of failure to comply with release order conditions.
Hancott also faces a charge of possession of stolen property.
