Bay du Nord deal rumoured to be imminent, as premier prepares ‘significant announcement’ at Delta Hotel this evening
Premier Tony Wakeham will make a significant announcement this evening.
The news comes as rumours swirl that government has reached a potential deal on the Bay du Nord offshore oil project. In a press release issued yesterday, the provincial Liberals said a deal with Equinor is rumoured to be imminent. They added their party “stands ready to support the best deal possible for Newfoundland and Labrador, our oil and gas sector, and our workers.”
Premier Tony Wakeham spoke to reporters outside the house of assembly on Monday. Wakeham said the province has had “excellent discussions” around Bay du Nord, and to “stay tuned.”
