70-year-old woman killed after collision involving youth on ATV in Ship Cove

Bay St. George RCMP is investigating an off-road vehicle crash in Ship Cove that resulted in the death of a 70-year-old woman on Tuesday evening.

Just after 7:00 p.m. on October 21, 2025, police responded to a report of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash along the main road in Ship Cove. A pedestrian had been struck by the ATV and was rushed to hospital by emergency medical crews, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The operator – a youth – remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The ATV was seized and the youth was not injured in the collision.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been engaged.  The investigation is continuing.

Bay St. George RCMP is asking any witnesses, or anyone with video surveillance or dash camera footage of the incident to contact the detachment at 709-643-2118.

RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador extends its deepest sympathies to the friends and family of the deceased.
