4th annual Sammy’s Superhero Game huge success

News

The 4th annual Sammy’s Superhero Game took place in Conception Bay South on Sunday, with the Conception Bay Senior Blues paying tribute to two young superheroes gone too soon.

The annual game first started in honour of Sammy Porter, a six-year-old boy who loved sports and superheroes. But every year, the Blues also dedicate the game to somebody special. This year the game was played in honour of J.D. Trainor, a young hockey player known as a warrior on and off the ice, who passed away last year.

Many of J.D.’s family and friends were at the game, wearing jerseys in his memory. Local superheroes were honoured at the game too.

All game proceeds will be donated to the Sammy’s Climb Higher Foundation. These pictures were taken by photographer Geoff Hynes who donates his fee to the charity every year.
