48-year-old man and 19-year-old woman dead after moose-vehicle collision near Aquaforte
RCMP ARE investigating a moose-vehicle collision Monday evening that resulted in the deaths of two people.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on June 22, Ferryland RCMP received a report of a collision on Route 10 involving a motorcycle, a passenger vehicle and a moose. Officers from neighbouring detachments, local firefighters and Emergency Medical Services personnel also responded to the scene.
The driver and passenger of the motorcycle, a 48-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the passenger vehicle was assessed by paramedics and did not require further treatment.
A Collision Reconstructionist with RCMP Traffic Services attended to assist with the investigation, and a section of Route 10 in Aquaforte was closed overnight while officers examined the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has also been engaged.
The investigation is continuing.
