17th anniversary memorial for Cougar Flight 491 crash taking place on Thursday
Thursday marks 17 years since the crash of Cougar Flight 491 in the Atlantic Ocean, which claimed the lives of 17 of the 18 people on board. The helicopter was travelling to offshore oil fields when it went down.
Each year on the anniversary, loved ones gather to remember those who were lost.
This year, Eastern Chaplaincy will once again host its annual memorial service for families, friends, and co-workers of the victims.
The service will take place at 7 p.m. at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. John’s. It will also be livestreamed on the Eastern Chaplaincy website.
