Sunday afternoon police were called to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the city centre of St. John’s.

Officers determined that a 55-year-old male had assaulted a female and stolen her purse.

The accused left the residence before officers arrived on the scene. He was located a short time later and arrested for assault and robbery.

The male was taken into custody. The female sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
