Police partners with the Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands on trail patrols, safety enforcement
Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP and Resource Enforcement Officers with the Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands have teamed up this winter to patrol communities and area trails, educate the public on winter recreation safety and enforce laws and regulations.
With snow season in full swing, more people are out on the trails to enjoy their favourite winter activities. RCMP and Resource Enforcement Officers have been conducting proactive patrols and setting up check stations, and to date, they have checked 40 snowmobiles, the majority of which were found to be safe and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Ten tickets have been issued for a variety of Highway Traffic Act and Off-Road Vehicles Act infractions, and one firearm was seized as the owner’s licence had expired.
