Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP is investigating the cause of a collision between a passenger car and a commercial vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) early this morning.

Just after 12:00 a.m. on August 6, Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP responded to a collision on the TCH near the weigh scales. Members of the Grand Falls-Windsor Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel also responded to the scene to assist.

The collision involved a transport truck and a small passenger car. Both vehicles were westbound on the highway at the time of the crash.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the commercial vehicle was uninjured.

The transport truck driver, a 22-year-old Ontario man, was ticketed under the Newfoundland and Labrador Highway Traffic Act for driving without due care and attention.

The investigation is ongoing.
