Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP investigating incident of animal cruelty, seeking public’s assistance
Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP is investigating a possible case of animal cruelty after a dog was located deceased in the water near Route 470. On Thursday, police received a report of the deceased small breed dog in a lake near Route 470, approximately two kilometres outside Port aux Basques. Officers attended the scene and determined that the animal had a collar, but no tag identifying the dog or its owner.
The provincial Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer has been engaged.
As part of the investigation, police are looking to identify and speak with the animal’s owner, and anyone with information about this incident.
The investigation is continuing.
