Bonavista RCMP makes arrest in Summerville break and enter

Justice, News

Bonavista RCMP arrested 42-year-old Jason Little on Wednesday after forensic evidence linked him to a break and enter at a rural tower site in Summerville last November. Little faces six Criminal Code charges including theft, mischief and break and enter.

On Nov.r 14, 2025, Bonavista RCMP, Clarenville RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Services responded to a 911 call from an employee of a property management company about a hit-and-run involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The employee was responding to a fuel leak alarm at a tower site near Summerville when their company vehicle was struck by an ATV carrying two men. The ATV crashed into a ditch nearby and driver and passenger fled the scene on foot.

There was extensive damage at the site, and a large quantity of diesel fuel was missing. The fuel was recovered from a makeshift ATV trailer at the scene, and police seized a number of additional items for forensic analysis.

One of items seized and processed by the Forensic Identification Service linked 42-year-old Jason Little of Upper Amherst Cove to the break and enter through DNA analysis.

Little was located at his residence on March 4 and arrested without incident. He has been charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Mischief over $5,000 – two counts
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Failing to remain at the scene of an accident
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

He was released from custody on strict conditions and will appear in provincial court again in April 2026.

Bonavista RCMP is still looking for the second suspect involved in this break, enter and theft. The witness described him as wearing camouflage clothing and smelled heavily of diesel fuel. Anyone with further information about this theft is asked to contact Bonavista RCMP at 709-468-7333.
