At 11:45 p.m. on Monday, the RNC was called to a possible impaired driver in the west end of St. John’s.
A female had called police and reported that a male driver had struck her vehicle and continued to drive away on a flat tire.
RNC located the damaged vehicle and driver a short distance away. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. The male provided breath samples which resulted in a blood alcohol level 3.5 times the legal limit.
The 48-year-old male was charged with impaired driving, driving over .80, driving while suspended and failure to stop at an accident scene.
The accused was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
