Beverage sales down, increase in cannabis sales as NLC released third quarter update

Business, News

Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation saw a decrease in beverage sales and increase in cannabis sales in this fiscal year’s third quarter. Beverage alcohol sales reached $90.3 million in the third quarter, which ended on Jan. 3, a decrease of 0.4 percent over last year. NLC says the decrease was in part due to the removal of the HST holiday in 2025 which had been introduced in December 2024 as a temporary federal government measure.

Meanwhile, cannabis sales totalled $27.9 million, an increase of 4.5 per cent over the prior year.
