Nicole Kieley resigns as Mount Pearl deputy mayor as recovery continues
Nicole Kieley has resigned as the deputy mayor of Mount Pearl.
In a Facebook post, Kieley said that after much reflection, she made the decision to resign effective yesterday, November 5, 2026.
Kieley was on a leave of absence to take time to recover, but shared that more time is needed.
Over the past several years, Kieley has experienced extraordinary challenges, including a traumatic accident in which she lost a leg.
In a press release sent to NTV News, the city of Mount Pearl said during her time as Deputy Mayor, Nicole worked collaboratively with her colleagues to advance initiatives that support a strong, vibrant, and inclusive community.
“Nicole Kieley has been a loyal champion for our community,” said city of Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker. “We are grateful for her contributions to Council and to the residents of Mount Pearl. While she will be missed around the Council table, we respect her decision and wish her every success in the future.”
A by-election to fill the vacant Council seat is expected to be held in early 2027.
