Burin Peninsula RCMP arrests impaired driver
A 49-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving during a traffic stop in Marystown Friday night
Around 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 2, Burin Peninsula RCMP pulled a vehicle over on Creston Boulevard as part of a routine traffic stop. The driver, a 49-year-old Lewin’s Cove man, showed signs of impairment, failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for impaired operation.
He was returned to the detachment where further testing confirmed his impairment at twice the legal limit. His vehicle was seized and impounded by police, and his licence was suspended.
The man was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Grand Bank Provincial Court next month to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation over 80 mg%.
