U.S. tariffs delayed by three days as negotiations with Canada continue
Prime Minister Mark Carney says substantial progress has been made between Canada and the U.S. as President Donald Trump announced he would extend the tariff deadline for three days.
The 50 per cent tariffs were set to impact up to $28-billion worth of goods as of just after midnight today.
In a statement released on social media, Carney says Canada has engaged in intensive discussions with the United States to address outstanding trade issues.
“While we continue this work, Canada remains focused on building a stronger, more independent, and more competitive economy at home.”
