Police arrest Ontario man for property damage
The RNC has made an arrest following property damage in St. John’s.
Around 11 p.m. Monday, police responded to a report of a suspicious male on Duckworth Street. Upon arrival, officers located two downtown businesses whose windows had been smashed. Witnesses on scene advised that a male had been asked to leave a nearby establishment when he became irate and used a skateboard to break the windows.
While investigating, the RNC received an additional complaint of damage that had just occurred to a parked vehicle in the area, and the suspect’s description matched that of the initial complaints. Officers located the 29-year-old Ontario man on Water Street where he fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, he was arrested and has been charged with three counts of mischief by causing property damage, causing a disturbance, and resisting arrest.
He was held to appear in court.
